These NLINE interfaces can provide real-time Ethernet, USB or Thunderbolt™ connections for almost any computer platform.
Jake Haddock, CTO of Sales for Alta, states, “The NLINE product family is a culmination of advancing our AltaCore 1553 and ARINC protocol engines in both functionality and reduced packaging to allow direct, in-line cable applications. We made considerable investments to have plastic injection molding engineering and equipment capability brought in-house so we can quickly make new products instead of waiting 6-12 months on outside vendors. We can rapidly design PCBs and harness molds to match various deployed application requirements. We have also tested models to meet rigorous environmental MIL-STD-810 & 461 (shock, temp, EMC) specifications, even full operational water immersion.
Along with our real-time Ethernet ENET products, the NLINE has been adopted for some very large programs.” Alta continues to fill-out the NLINE product family as interface cards are still the bread and butter of the COTS market. ARINC and 1553 network interface cards (NICs) are still very popular for embedded integration and test of avionics systems.Alta started with PMC, PCI Express, XMC, PXI style interface boards, and then invented their ENET real-time Ethernet converter appliances, which became one the market’s leading products. In coming full circle, Alta just announced a new, flexible 1553 NIC that customers can design-in into small, custom systems: mezzanine board MEZ-E1553.

Alta Data Technologies Selects Holt MIL-STD-1553 Integrated Transceiver/Transformer for In-Line (NLINE™) 1553 Product
Mission Viejo, CA –Alta Data Technologies (Alta) announced today it has selected Holt Integrated CircuitsMIL-STD-1553 transceiver/transformer integrated product combination, HI-2579, for use in their NLINE-E1553 device, a real-time Ethernet MIL-STD-1553 converter.
The HI-2579 is a 3.3V MIL-STD-1553/1760 dual transceiver with integrated dual transformers. The IC is hermetically sealed on a ceramic LCC substrate and dual transformers are mounted in the same package. The ceramic substrate allows extended temperature operation from −55oC to +125oC and achieves Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) 1.
The device operates from a single 3.3V supply and provides a single-component solution to interface an FPGA directly with a dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 bus.The HI-2579 transceiveris available in industrial −40oC to +85oC and extended −55oC to +125oC temperature ranges, with optional burn-in available for extended temperature range devices.

For the first time, a full featured 1553 interface, including A/D O-Scope signal debugging, is now available directly in a rugged cable assembly (810G tested with full water immersion, and to 60K ft operational). This is an ideal implementation for embedded or flight line applications.
The NLINE, like Alta’s ENET™ products, implements a real-time UDP server FPGA design that eliminates traditional IP/UDP software stacks – virtually eliminating virus concerns. This capability allows the customer to securely remote 1553 operations via Ethernet with very little added (<20 µs) device latency. Alta also plans to release 1553 USB 3 and Thunderbolt™ NLINE interfaces later this year.

This product connects ARINC devices to notebooks, desktops and servers via USB 3.0 SuperSpeed. In addition to 4 or 8 channels of ARINC RX/TX message controls, NLINE-UA429 can generate or capture (o-scope) raw bus signals for protocol and electrical troubleshooting, and cybersecurity modeling. The product is ideal for both lab and deployed applications, and is available now for immediate delivery.
